I am a husband, father and grandfather. Several years ago I retired from a career as an elementary school teacher. I am a member of an evangelical church. I have been a lay preacher for many years.
When I was a boy, I had an autograph book. On one occasion, I asked a Christian pilot for an autograph. He signed his name and after it wrote ‘SSXG’ – meaning sinner saved by grace.
That is who I am.
- I am a sinner because I have sinned in thought and word and deed.
- I am saved from my sin and have eternal life because I trust in Jesus Christ who died and rose again.
- I am saved by grace. The life I experience in Jesus I owe entirely to the grace of God. There is nothing I could ever do to earn salvation or to repay God.
Oh, and that’s my wife’s calico cat sleeping on my shoulder!
